Hello, and welcome to our outsider folk art website. We are a group of "Outsider Folk Artists" who have no formal training in the arts, other than the God-given grace of creating. Folk art, aka Outsider art, is slowly coming to it's own, appreciated by many, even those in the art community.
Self-taught art is the most important visual culture America has ever produced.
Please DO NOT confuse folk art with country crafts, duck decoys or split-cane baskets.
It is a much more personal art, sometimes religiously inspired paintings created from junk and found objects.
Collectors and dealers have only recently begun to seek the true folk artist out. This art is produced by untrained people who draw upon their culture and experiences in their own world; made with a true, untutored, creative passion. It’s raw, expressive, unconventional, nonconforming, genuine, and truly original. Artistically acclaimed acceptance has caused this art form to boom. Sometimes it may not be pretty, it may just make one think and feel.
None of us are represented by any gallery and proud of it. Galleries,in our humble opinion, are just a bunch of money-hungry bottom feeding scavengers.
So where is the folk art world headed?
Prices are headed up for sure, so it's truly an investment.
When an artist is spotlighted, interest in the artist and the entire folk art field is generated.
There's only one rule:
Only buy what you like.
If you are collecting not only for enjoyment but also as an investment, you may want to have the foresight to pick a piece before the prices soar. On this website, you can find true artists that have been around a while. But their prices aren't high because you are buying directly from the artist themselves!!!
